1950 Kenworth
1500 GPM Pumper
(Apparatus #169)

Kenworth Preservation
Since
1942, the Seattle Fire Department has purchased a total of 59 Kenworths.
Between November
9, 1949 and November 6, 1950, the largest single order
ever of Kenworth apparatus was delivered to
the Seattle Fire Dept - ten pumpers and six city service ladder trucks. One from this historic
fleet
that still survives today is Apparatus 169.
Apparatus 169 is a triple combination pumper, hose and 200-gallon
booster tank, equipped with
a 1500-gpm Hale centrifugal pump and
296 horsepower Hall-Scott engine. It is specially equipped
with a
portable monitor. Delivered to the Seattle Fire Department on
January 5, 1950, at a cost
of $12,937.75, it is now in the care of the Last
Resort Fire Department and was restored by them
to
its original
appearance.
